The Auckland Energy Consumer Trust is made up of elected trustees. All of them are electricity customers who live inside the Trust area. Trustee elections happen every three years, and every AECT beneficiary can vote in them, or run for election themself.
The most recent AECT elections were held in October 2009.
Results of the 2009 AECT elections
Results for the triennial election of the Auckland Energy Consumer Trust have been released.
Trust beneficiaries voted to elect five trustees to the AECT and the following votes have been recorded by the Returning Office, Independent Election Services Ltd:

Accordingly, the Returning Officer Dale Ofsoske has advised the following people elected as trustees of the AECT:
Michael BUCZKOWSKI, William CAIRNS, James CARMICHAEL, Warren KYD and Karen SHERRY.
All successful candidates are from the Citizens and Ratepayers' Association.
The election was conducted by postal ballot. Voting documents were posted to 283,209 Trust beneficiaries from 15 October and, to be counted, all completed voting documents had to be in the hands of the Returning Officer by 5pm Friday 30 October 2009. The final result will be declared by the Returning Officer by Public Notice on Saturday, 7 November 2009.
A total of 46,631 beneficiaries returned their voting document, representing a 16.47% voter turnout. (This compares to a 19.28% voter turnout for the 2006 AECT triennial election).
