Prepay Customers

Prepay customers need to provide their bank account details each time to ensure the dividend goes to the current occupant.

This is because prepay customers don’t get a power bill that needs to be updated when there is a change of occupant at an address. If the customer details aren’t updated, existing bank details could stay on the roll and go to a previous occupant if you have just moved in to a prepay property.

Requiring new bank details each time helps reduce this problem and avoids paying the wrong person.

There are several reasons why your bank account details may not be showing:

  • If you are a prepay customer. Prepay customers don’t get a power bill that needs to be updated when there is a change of occupant at an address. To be certain that the dividend goes to the current occupant we don’t repeat bank instructions at a prepay address. This ensures the right person gets the dividend but it does mean prepay customers do need to fill in their banking details each time.
  • If you have moved since the last dividend payment.
  • If you have changed electricity retailer since the last dividend payment and changed your name or address details

You will need to provide your bank details again this time.

You need to make sure your electricity retailer has your correct name on their customer list. That’s the same as having your name on a power bill.

You must also provide your banking details each year, as all prepay customers receive the dividend by direct credit to your bank account. Just provide your bank details on the secure web page or the form we sent you.

We ask prepay customers to provide bank account details each year to ensure the dividend goes to the right person. This is because prepay customers don’t get a power bill that needs to be updated when there is a change of occupant at an address. If the customer details aren’t updated, existing bank details could stay on the roll and go to a previous occupant.

Requiring new bank details each time helps reduce this problem and avoids paying the wrong person.
